Overview

Wiggly’s, nestled right in the heart of Jacksonville’s Public Square, is quickly becoming a standout spot for those craving comfort food with a Southern twist. This restaurant does not overwhelm with an extensive menu; instead, it focuses on doing a few dishes exceptionally well. It’s a place where simplicity meets quality, and where each plate tells a story rooted in traditional Southern flavors fused with a subtle New Orleans flair.

The main draw at Wiggly’s revolves around their expertly crafted smash burgers, the flavorful chicken gyro, and seafood options like catfish and fried shrimp, which locals rave about. The smash burgers arrive toasted to perfection with a juicy, well-seasoned patty, although toppings like lettuce and tomato come at a small extra cost. Seafood lovers will appreciate the catfish, known for its fresh quality and excellent preparation, alongside crispy fried pickles and hush puppies that provide a perfect Southern appetizer experience.

The experience at Wiggly’s is enhanced by warm, attentive service that makes every visit feel personal. The owner’s presence on the floor adds a genuine hospitality touch, often engaging guests to ensure satisfaction. The atmosphere is casual and approachable, ideal for families, groups of friends, or anyone who appreciates hearty, home-style cooking without pretense.

Though the menu is concise, each item is crafted with care and attention. Sides are limited primarily to fries, which are thin, hot, and perfectly crispy. There’s a small but well-curated drink selection featuring popular beers, liquors, and house-crafted cocktails like a refreshing lime margarita and unique daiquiris such as the Dreamsicle and Bushwhacker.

While a few reviews cite occasional inconsistencies—such as over-breaded hush puppies or limited beverage availability—the overall consensus is that Wiggly’s offers flavorful, freshly made dishes that capture the essence of Southern comfort food with a spirited twist. Whether you’re seeking a casual lunch, a quick bite after work, or a relaxed dinner with friends, Wiggly’s stands out as an inviting culinary find in Jacksonville’s evolving dining scene.

For those passing through or local residents looking for down-home flavors with attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere, Wiggly’s is a must-visit destination that promises more than just a meal—it delivers a memorable dining experience rooted in quality and community.

Stumbled upon a new GEM in Jacksonville on the Circle—Wiggly—and let me just say, they’ve gained a new loyal customer! I ordered the chicken gyro and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was seasoned to perfection—flavorful without being too heavy—and the portion size was just right. On top of that, the customer service was top tier. Friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Can’t wait to go back and try more! Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

You have to give this place a try. It's in the old Roma's on the square. We've tried the catfish, the fried shrimp, the smash burgers - ALL great. For dessert, the bread pudding is to die for. It's good southern cooking with a New Orleans flair that makes it even better. Give this place a try. I promise you'll like it!

My group got smash burgers which were wonderful. The bread was toasted to perfection and the burger was tasty. There is a small separate charge for lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles. The fries were hot and thin and crispy. They have some other dishes but the focus is on just a few items. The owner spoke with us and was warm and friendly. We will definitely go back and will bring others with us!

This was my first time at Wiggly’s. I went with two friends, one of whom had been here before. I had a chicken quesadilla, another had a smash burger and the other fish and shrimp. All the entrees were served with fries and seem to be the only side available. My chicken quesadilla was good, but not blown out of the park good. My friend said the smash burger was not as good as the first time he had it, and my other friend reported that the hushpuppies on her plate seemed overly breaded and greasy. Unfortunately they were also out of lemonade, regular sweet tea, and to go cups. I got tea and even though it was supposedly unsweetened and I received three Splendas, it tasted sweet by itself. Our server was Kendall (spelling?) and she was very attentive and polite. The cook even came out to make sure we were good and ask how everything was, which was nice. I would definitely come back to try again.

I enjoyed my first visit at this establishment. The service was punctual. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting. The fries were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The in-house tzatziki sauce was delicious. The grilled chicken on the gyro was tasty as well. If you love eating locally, you have to try this restaurant.
